Coronavirus Communications Fund
Dear Brothers and Sisters of South Louisiana,
Our life together as a presbytery and congregation has been disrupted by a virus. Daily life has been interrupted. It’s quite likely we’re feeling anxious and even afraid. It’s times like this that we might turn to the church for encouragement andfellowship. Unfortunately, our ability to gather together has been curtailed. We don’t know how long this will last, but it would seem that this could extend into May or perhaps longer. The best thing we can do is follow the guidelines offered by the Centers for Disease Control. Wash your hands with soap and water, if possible, stay at home, and live out social distancing.
It is incumbent upon us as faithful members of the Church to act with the utmost of solidarity, justice, and prudence in rejecting selfish fear and embracing our responsibility to love our neighbor, especially the vulnerable, for the sake of peace and the common good of our brothers and sisters in this stressful time.
Let us be encouraged to think not only of what we might curtail for a time, but also were we might expand our commitments to our life together.
As each congregation explores avenues and opportunities to worship in new ways, remember your continued financial contributions are really important. Regular. Faithful. Please do not let it slide. Everything our congregations do leans on our collective generosity.
The Presbytery has established a Coronavirus Communications Grant Fund. Churches can apply for a grant of up to $500.00 to help with communication costs related to worship, pastoral care, or other communication/subscription costs. For an application please contact PSL Treasurer Jackie Cummings. (email@example.com) or go to the PSL website.
The Presbytery website and Facebook page will be updated regularly with links to resources for worship, information from the Board of Pensions, Synod of the Sun and General Assembly. In addition, we have created a DropBox account to share information with one another. The link to the Drop is posted on the PSL website.
Let us pray for each other and for the gifts of fortitude and wisdom to preserve through these challenging times. God is always with us and will never abandon us. (Jeremiah 33:6) Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.
With every good wish for you and for the peace of our nation.
