Please join us at Okra Abbey on Monday, January 19th from 9am to 12pm for a morning of service projects and anti-racist popular education in honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. While Dr. King's legacy is widely recognized through days of service and a federal holiday, his actual teachings and life's work are often white-washed and watered down. With this volunteer event, we strive to honor the radical life and work of Dr. King by engaging head-on in the ongoing struggle for liberation from the "Three Evils" of "racism, economic exploitation and militarism". We welcome volunteers of all ages but request that anyone under the age of 17 be accompanied by a supervising adult. If you have specific access needs or requests for accommodations, please indicate this in the RSVP Form. Please email okraabbey@gmail.com with any questions.
