Presbyterian Partners Gather in Cuba Amid Deepening Hardships
George Strain and Carl Motsenbocker of University Presbyterian Church attended the quadrennial Encuentro (gathering) of the PC(USA) Cuba Partners Network at the ecumenical seminary in Matanzas, Cuba, on October 2-6. Thirty-six representatives from the US met and worshiped with more than fifty Cuban Presbyterians in furtherance of our mutual faith journeys.

The PSL has a partnership with the Presbytery of Matanzas and installed a water treatment system at Matanzas Central Presbyterian Church in 2013, which they visited to observe ongoing operation and need for filters and other supplies. The visit provided the opportunity to see in person the stark privations experienced by Cubans every day: shortages or absence of food, medicines, fuel, electricity, and simple daily needs. The reality of their daily lives cannot be believed unless actually seen, yet their faith in God and hope for His promised salvation remains strong. Your prayers for the people of Cuba are urgently needed.
