Responding to March 2022 Tornadoes

here is an update from our partners in the NOLA Ready VOAD:

  • Please encourage people to stay away from downed power lines. Anyone who is aware of downed power lines should immediately call 9-1-1.

  • I am sharing an updated graphic from Crisis Clean Up’s hotline that can be widely shared and used to report damages/request VOAD assistance. The Crisis Clean Up hotline number is 504-350-0788.

  • Free Disaster Legal Services – free civil legal aid may be available to survivors on issues such as landlord-tenant problems, disaster food stamp denials, disaster unemployment, contractor fraud, FEMA disputes, etc. Please see the attached flyer for more info. Disaster Legal Helpline: 1-844-244-7871

    • VOAD Rebuilding Partners – please remember that you will need to log into Crisis Clean Up and request a redeploy to “SE Tornadoes Mar 2022”.

  • VOLUNTEERS:

    • Please let me know if your organization is planning on deploying to the impacted areas and would like to have additional volunteer support. Please provide a weblink or email address for volunteers to sign up directly with your organization, as well as a short description of the volunteer services to be performed.

  • DONATIONS:

    • St. Bernard Parish is working on setting up 3 locations for resource distribution. At this time, we do not have any available addresses. As always, please refrain from asking for clothing donations.

    • Please do not collect any food (perishable or non-perishable) at this time, as I am coordinating with mass feeding partners who have reached out since last night.

    • Diaper donations & feminine hygiene product donations @ Junior League New Orleans HQ (4319 Carondelet St) starting today through Sunday, 9 AM – 3 PM.

    • United Way SELA HQ (2515 Canal St): receiving donations from 10 AM – 2 PM. They are collecting diapers, baby wipes, feminine hygiene products and toiletries. NO food and clothing at this time.
