Trip to Lafayette Cemetery No. 1

On Friday, September 25, 2026, Loretta Credo and Jeff Sims visited the "Resting Place of the First German Presbyterian Congregation," an above-ground vault built by New Orleans' German community in 1866. Loretta is a COM member and belongs to the Lafayette Cemetery Tomb & Coping Owners Association. Jeff is Co-General Presbyter of PSL. PSL owns these vaults, which were recently repaired and restored through a partnership among the City of New Orleans, the Preservation Resource Center (Save Our Cemeteries), and the Lafayette Cemetery Tomb & Coping Owners Association and its masonry contractors. Thanks to our own Rev. Martha Robson who aided in the research and history of this particular set of vaults. Before-and-after photos are below, along with a photo of Loretta and Sara Lowenberg, Director of Save Our Cemeteries. You'll also find more photos and links to learn about this ongoing work.
