Be Well-Come Together is one of the new worshipping communities in our presbytery. This ministry is focused on supporting the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of residents in Harvey, LA and the surrounding area. The ministry serves a diverse population in a community where the poverty rate is 42% higher than the national average.

In May, Be Well-Come Together wrapped up a 10 week, faith-based wellness ministry that focused on older adults at risk of chronic disease. This program was supported by a grant from the Synod of the Sun. Participants lost weight over the 10 weeks and made significant improvements in their blood pressure readings. Exercise classes are offered twice a week and are free to the community. There has been a 30% increase in participants since the beginning of the year. Every month, Be Well-Come Together holds Soul Food gatherings, which bring people together across the community to explore questions of life and faith. The focus over the past few months has been on salvation and resurrection.
Be Well-Come Together is facing a $4,250 budget shortfall this year and is seeking the support of congregations and individuals in the Presbytery to help sustain this vital ministry. Gifts of any size are appreciated. To give online: https://secure.myvanco.com/L-ZKVX/home. Checks can be made payable to “Be Well-Come Together” and mailed to 2525 Apollo Ave., Harvey, LA 70058.
