FEMA and Houses of Worship assistance




PUBLIC ASSISTANCE INFORMATION:

  • Public Assistance – Categories A and B for Houses of Worship and Private Non-Profits: FEMA has authorized to provide Public Assistance funding at 100% cost share for Category A (Debris Removal) and Category B (Emergency Protective Measures) for a period of 30 days from the start of the incident period, which ends on September 25, 2021. After this 30 days period FEMA Public Assistance funding will revert to the 75/25% cost share. Category A (Debris Removal) simply means if the House of Worship or Private Non-Profit incurred costs to have debris collected and removed from their property, Public Assistance can provide funding for that work. Also, if any emergency protective measures taken by Houses of Worship or Private Non-Profits to protect their facility from further damage could be eligible under Category B (Emergency Protective Measures).

    • Parishes approved for PA Category A: Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberia, Iberville, Livingston, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Bernard, St. Helena, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana

    • Parishes approved for PA Category B: All 64 Louisiana Parishes have been approved Category B (Emergency Protective Measures)

  • Public Assistance – Categories C-G for Houses of Worship and Private Non-Profits: the following parishes were approved for Public Assistance Categories C-G (Permanent Work) for the following parishes. GOHSEP is working to collect data for PDAs in the remaining parishes that have not received permanent work designations. If additional parishes are approved for permanent work, designation updates will be made. These categories, depending on which one applies, could potentially help Houses of Worship and Private Non-Profits with repairs to facilities damaged as a result of Hurricane Ida.

    • Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist and Terrebonne

  • How to Request Public Assistance: visit LouisianaPA.com or please contact your local emergency manager or Public Assistance State Applicant Liaison (SAL). The current deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

Requests for Public Assistance (RPA) can be submitted by going to www.LouisianaPA.com and clicking the large red banner. Then simply follow the online instructions as it pertains to your entity. Current deadline to submit your Request for Public Assistance is 30 days from the declaration date which is Tuesday, September 28, 2021. visit LouisianaPA.com or please contact your local emergency manager or Public Assistance State Applicant Liaison (SAL). Afterwards, scroll down to “Private Non-Profits (PNP) and Faith-based Organizations (FBO)”

GOHSEP will also be conducting 3 Applicant Briefing Sessions via Zoom at 2:00pm on the following days. All 3 briefings will be delivering the same information, so you only need to register/attend one. Zoom limits participation to 300. So if you cannot get into one, please try one of the other two. There will also be additional briefings added in the coming weeks. Participation in an applicant briefing is not mandatory for requesting Public Assistance although it is strongly recommended.
