Celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd

As Earth Day approaches, there is good news to celebrate in Louisiana. First Presbyterian Church Lafayette has been re-certified as an Earth Care Congregation through the Presbyterian Church (USA)—and remains the only congregation in the state to hold this distinction. The Earth Care Congregation program recognizes churches that make creation care an integral part of their worship, education, facilities, and outreach.

Curious how other churches are engaging this work? A current map of 2026 Earth Care Congregations is available online, offering inspiration and ideas from across the country. For congregations looking to deepen their commitment, the study Let Justice Roll Down: God’s Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creation, from Presbyterian Women, provides a thoughtful and practical resource for exploring the theological call to environmental stewardship.
